Lead Times: Due to a very high volume of orders, our current lead times for standard fuel cells and replacement bladders is 4-5 weeks out,
1-2 business days for parts orders. Please contact Sales@FuelSafe.com with any questions.

Glossary

  1. Alcohol – (Methanol,Ethanol) This fuel requires specific materials and aluminum hardware to be treated. This fuel can be harmful to certain items such as safety foam and certain bladder materials.
  2. Baffle (bladder material) – Deflects fuel flow in a cell to an area you want it to go for better performance.
  3. Baffling (safety foam) – Slows fuel cell slosh while providing explosion resistance. All Fuel Safe gasoline cells come with foam.
  4. B.C.(Bolt Circle) – The diameter of an imaginary circle drawn through the center of each lug hole; also referred to as the bolt pattern.
  5. Bottom Ring – In sprint cells, a 6 x 10 plate mounted in the cell on the vertical face behind the rear end.
  6. Bung – A weld-in threaded fitting that will accept AN or pipe fittings; must specify AN or NPT.
  7. Can – The container or enclosure that provides containment and protection to a bladder.
  8. Check Valve – A device that allows flow in one direction only.
  9. Collector/Surge Tank – An area within a cell that traps or contains fuel to ensure steady supply and maximum usage.
  10. Direct Fill – A cell which is filled through a cap mounted directly on the cell. (aka Standard Fill)
  11. Dry Break Valves – Valves which form a relatively leak-proof connection for rapid refueling. (female on vehicle; male on fuel supply)
  12. Fill Plate – Bolted assembly that typically has a fill cap or hose attachment for filling a tank.
  13. 4 x 6 – A standard size, 12 bolt, oval plate that covers a 4″ x 6″ hole; the plate measures closer to 5″ x 7″.
  14. Heel Flapper – A check valve used in standard fill applications.
  15. Height – The measurement from top to bottom of the bladder or container listed.
  16. Hydrocarbon Fuels (Gasoline, Diesel, AVGAS) – A fuel that requires specific materials to be used in the construction of a fuel cell. This fuel will damage alcohol-specific bladders.
  17. Length – The measurement from side to side in the car. Typically cells are mounted in a vehicle with the longest dimensions left to right. Your application may differ.
  18. Nipple – A ballistic fabric-reinforced flexible outlet or inlet into which a tube can be clamped.
  19. Nutring – A device on the inside of bladder openings that has threads to accept bolts securing a plate.
  20. Pickup – The hose and/or fitting through which fuel will be delivered to the engine.
  21. Raw – Untreated plates and fittings, no finish applied. Should not be used with alcohol.
  22. Remote Fill – A cell that is filled anyplace other than with a cap mounted directly on the cell.
  23. Return – Fitting or hose through which excess fuel is sent back to a cell.
  24. Sender (Fuel Level Sender) – Typically an electronic item that sends a signal to your fuel level gauge.
  25. 6 x 10 – A standard size 24-bolt oval plate which actually covers a 6″ x 10″ hole; the plate measures closer to 7.5″ x 11.75″.
  26. Standard Fill – A cell which is filled through a cap mounted directly on the cell. (aka Direct Fill)
  27. Top Pickup – In sprint cells, where the pickup fitting is mounted via a special fitting above the rear end of the car.
  28. Width – The measurement from front to back of the cell in the car. Typically the cells are mounted in a vehicle with the longest dimensions left to right.
