Lead Times: Due to a very high volume of orders, our current lead times for standard fuel cells and replacement bladders is 4-5 weeks out,
1-2 business days for parts orders. Please contact Sales@FuelSafe.com with any questions.
Alcohol – (Methanol,Ethanol) This fuel requires specific materials and aluminum hardware to be treated. This fuel can be harmful to certain items such as safety foam and certain bladder materials.
Baffle (bladder material) – Deflects fuel flow in a cell to an area you want it to go for better performance.
Baffling (safety foam) – Slows fuel cell slosh while providing explosion resistance. All Fuel Safe gasoline cells come with foam.
B.C.(Bolt Circle) – The diameter of an imaginary circle drawn through the center of each lug hole; also referred to as the bolt pattern.
Bottom Ring – In sprint cells, a 6 x 10 plate mounted in the cell on the vertical face behind the rear end.
Bung – A weld-in threaded fitting that will accept AN or pipe fittings; must specify AN or NPT.
Can – The container or enclosure that provides containment and protection to a bladder.
Check Valve – A device that allows flow in one direction only.
Collector/Surge Tank – An area within a cell that traps or contains fuel to ensure steady supply and maximum usage.
Direct Fill – A cell which is filled through a cap mounted directly on the cell. (aka Standard Fill)
Dry Break Valves – Valves which form a relatively leak-proof connection for rapid refueling. (female on vehicle; male on fuel supply)
Fill Plate – Bolted assembly that typically has a fill cap or hose attachment for filling a tank.
4 x 6 – A standard size, 12 bolt, oval plate that covers a 4″ x 6″ hole; the plate measures closer to 5″ x 7″.
Heel Flapper – A check valve used in standard fill applications.
Height – The measurement from top to bottom of the bladder or container listed.
Hydrocarbon Fuels (Gasoline, Diesel, AVGAS) – A fuel that requires specific materials to be used in the construction of a fuel cell. This fuel will damage alcohol-specific bladders.
Length – The measurement from side to side in the car. Typically cells are mounted in a vehicle with the longest dimensions left to right. Your application may differ.
Nipple – A ballistic fabric-reinforced flexible outlet or inlet into which a tube can be clamped.
Nutring – A device on the inside of bladder openings that has threads to accept bolts securing a plate.
Pickup – The hose and/or fitting through which fuel will be delivered to the engine.
Raw – Untreated plates and fittings, no finish applied. Should not be used with alcohol.
Remote Fill – A cell that is filled anyplace other than with a cap mounted directly on the cell.
Return – Fitting or hose through which excess fuel is sent back to a cell.
Sender (Fuel Level Sender) – Typically an electronic item that sends a signal to your fuel level gauge.
6 x 10 – A standard size 24-bolt oval plate which actually covers a 6″ x 10″ hole; the plate measures closer to 7.5″ x 11.75″.
Standard Fill – A cell which is filled through a cap mounted directly on the cell. (aka Direct Fill)
Top Pickup – In sprint cells, where the pickup fitting is mounted via a special fitting above the rear end of the car.
Width – The measurement from front to back of the cell in the car. Typically the cells are mounted in a vehicle with the longest dimensions left to right.
