Fuel Safe Systems is looking for an engineering candidate to interface with customers, determine program requirements, design fuel and fluid containment systems for industrial and defense customers, and manage customer-issued purchase orders. The position requires excellent communication skills, program management skills, and the desire to learn and improve upon the company’s current processes and products.
Prior knowledge of fuel and fluid systems is not a prerequisite, and there will be an expectation of learning on the job. Training will be fully supported by the engineering department and will involve time becoming familiar with the CAD and manufacturing processes, and then the new hire will train through managing customer programs. Ideally, the candidate will be largely self-sufficient six months after their starting date, though full support from the rest of the engineering team will always be available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing multiple customer programs throughout the sales, engineering, and manufacturing processes;
- Engaging customers via email and phone calls to determine program requirements and design details, and to communicate manufacturing updates;
- 3D CAD modeling – solid modeling and sheet metal design;
- Creation of engineering drawings to effectively communicate design details to the manufacturing floor;
- Testing standard or newly developed materials against customer requirements for chemical compatibilities, strengths, or other performance targets;
- Creating and presenting quotes to customers for development or production programs;
- Reviewing and signing Statements of Works, Requests for Quotes, and Purchase Orders;
- Creating production orders for the manufacturing floor;
- Supporting manufacturing with on-the-floor help, fixture and tooling designs, and hands-on assistance;
- Reviewing and improving upon current manufacturing processes when deficiencies are identified;
- Representing Fuel Safe at customer facilities and at trade shows, periodically;
- Some travel required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;
- Post-collegiate experience is not a requirement;
- High degree of interpersonal skills;
- Ability to communicate professionally;
- Ability to clearly communicate technical data;
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work with limited supervision;
- Desire to learn and continuously improve;
- Self-motivated;
- US citizen
