A safety fuel cell is a system designed to keep fuel contained and controllable—both for performance and crash safety. It consists of:

• Bladder (bag tank): flexible, fuel‑resistant container that prevents spills in a crash.
• Foam baffling: limits slosh, reduces aeration/flashback, and helps maintain shape.
• Fill plate: provides the fill opening plus ports (vent, outlet, return) and rollover protection.
• Container/can: rigid enclosure that protects the bladder and mounts the assembly in the vehicle.

Why use one?
Improved safety (retains fuel even when deformed/impacted) and more consistent performance (controlled slosh so pumps see steady fuel at low levels and in high‑G).

Who uses these?
From drag, sprint, off‑road, road race, rally and vintage programs to marine, aerospace, defense, and industrial applications—any platform where safety and reliable fuel delivery matter.

Core use & care guidelines

• Avoid fuel additives and harsh chemicals; don’t store fuel long‑term in the cell.
• Store cool/dry/out of direct sun; inspect annually and replace foam if it becomes brittle.
• Route the vent up first to or above the highest fill point, then down—avoid sags; keep suction lines short and pumps at/below outlet height.
• Re‑torque hardware periodically and leak‑check after service. See Installation & Care for torque values.

• Dimensional capacity is based on the external container dimensions.
  
• Usable capacity may vary depending on the internal components, bladder type, and scavenge systems.

Not all racing series require FIA certification, so it all depends on which class you are racing in.

To find out if FIA cells are required check the rules associated with your racing class, or contact the head of the series for details.

Choose by fuel type, series requirement, and duty cycle:

• Enduro: FIA‑FT3 certified (5‑year validity); for sanctioned racing requiring certification.
• Pro Cell: Robust bladder for higher ethanol content (e.g., up to E85) and demanding use.
• Sportsman / Race Safe: Durable options for pump gas (e.g., up to E15) and club/track day use.
  Match the bladder family to your fuel blend first; then dial in capacity, packaging, and accessories.
